JOOTRH has achieved a historic first: successful open heart surgery on Kenyan soil in Kisumu. This milestone means patients from Western Kenya and beyond no longer have to travel long distances or abroad for life-saving cardiothoracic procedures.
The achievement reflects the hospital's investment in cardiothoracic surgical capacity, specialist training and modern theatre infrastructure under its Level 6A elevation.
